designLAB recently participated in a competition involving the speculative reprogramming of St. Stephen's Church in Chicago, "Under the Dome." The proposal, CONVERGENCE, focuses on the center of the space, embracing the dome’s volume and all those inhabiting it. The layering of old and new suggests a new variant of contemplative space typologies as a social sanctum.
