As a native of Pittsburgh, Andy Warhol emerged from the industrial center of Western Pennsylvania to become part of the modern art canon. Warhol re-appropriated the imagery of print media into new forms. Rather than the pages of a newspaper, the white-walls of art galleries served as the context for work that meticulously reproduced the branding and advertising of the mid 60s.
