conoid chair

Made from a single mahogany board, the conoid chair is inspired by the thin-shell forms of Felix Candela. The compound surfaces are made by holding one edge of the board in-line while splaying the opposite end along an arc. The back of the chair remains stepped to reveal the process, while the front is carved smooth to cradle the body and expose the figure of the original board.
